+ WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN WAX?

Primarily a Brazilian wax is often considered that all hair is removed, which is not always the case. There are many names and styles for intimate waxing! Below are some of the most commonly requested Brazilian wax styles. Not everyone can achieve these styles, it is governed as to how much hair you have to do these styles. Brazilian waxing has become a part of everyday life for many woman of all ages. If you shave your hair, we ask that you wait until it has grown out anywhere from one-half to one centimetre in length. Please do not trim prior to your appointment.

+ HOW LONG DOES A BRAZILIAN WAX LAST?

It depends on the individual and how hairless you wish to be on an ongoing basis. Generally the regrowth begins to appear after 10-14 days. All hairs will not grow back at the same rate. Re-waxing is best done once all the hairs have come through. For best results maintain 4 weekly waxing appointments.

+ HAIR REGROWTH

As with all waxing, the hairs will grow back softer and less. After a few treatments, about 20% of the hair will not grow back. With regular waxing hair growth will reduce further and hairless patches will develop. Do not shave in between waxing visits. This will interfere with you obtaining a regular hair growth cycle.

+ WAXING AND PAIN

For first timers, a Brazilian wax or any wax can seem daunting, and make you very nervous! Everyone is different. Most people relate waxing with pain. My clients are often surprised that the LYCON Waxing System and using LYCON superior quality waxes is practically painless for most. Rest assured, I have had many years of waxing experience and have been trained the Lycon Way. I will always make you feel as comfortable as possible, providing modesty gowns and disposable underwear.

+ LYCON HOT WAX

Lycon hot waxes are extremely gentle on the intimate areas as they have a low working temperature and remove hair as short as 1 mm, which is important for a long lasting Brazilian wax. In addition, LYCON hot waxes can be reapplied on the same area 5-6 times, without my clients feeling any heat from the wax. These qualities in a wax are extremely important in order to achieve comfortable and virtually pain-free waxing with longer lasting results.

+ CONTRA-INDICATIONS TO WAXING

There are contra-indications to all waxing, this will be discussed with me prior to your appointment.

+ POST CARE AFTER WAXING

Caring for you skin after waxing is essential. As well as removing unwanted hair, waxing sometimes removes some of the skins outer layer. If the skin in not well treated, ingrown hairs, rashes, burns, flaky skin and other skin irritations can occur, especially to those with sensitive skin. Here are a few ways to treat your skin 12-24 hours after a waxing treatment.

• Firstly try not to have waxing done if you are menstruating or are close to it as this is when your skin is more sensitive and you have a low pain threshold. (I realise sometimes this is not easy to do due to timing)
• Deodorants, perfumes, body sprays, powder, creams or self-tanning lotions unless advised by your therapist, should not be used on the skin until redness subsides, as they will cause irritation especially areas such as the face and underarms.
• Make up used on a waxed area, especially the face, can easily enter the hair follicle, causing breakouts.
• Loose clothing should be worn to allow air circulation around the waxed area. This will prevent the skin overheating causing rashes and a spotting "chicken pox" effect.
• Showers or baths to be had after waxing should be warm, NOT hot, as this will cause overheating. Wait until redness subsides.
• Avoid sun, swimming, saunas and spas until redness subsides.
• Exfoiating is the key to preventing ingrown hairs and flaky skin. But avoid the area for 3 days after waxing.
• Keeping the skin cool and soothed after waxing is important.
